- We currently use a Telebit Worldblazer on a Sparc-2 for both uucp
- connections in PEP mode, and a PPP connection at 14.4 bps. The serial
- port is locked at 38.4 bps. Our uucp traffic generally achieves
- thruputs of ~1500 cps. Over PPP, the thruput is ~1300 cps for
- compressed material, and ~2400 cps for uncompressed material.
-
- I'm curious what thruput we could expect on uucp and PPP if we were to
- swap this modem for a 28.8 bps (v.34) modem, run on the same Sparc
- motherboard serial port at 38.4 bps. Is uucp reliable on a v.34
- connection without PEP spoofing?
-
- Also, I'd appreciate recommendations of v.34 modems with the
- reliability of the Telebit TB+ and Worldblazer.
-
- Thanks in advance for experiences and advice.
